Performed at the Everest Theatre, Seymour Centre, for the Sydney University Commerce Revue Society
17th August - 19th August 2017
A night of comedy that will first make you laugh and then make you question how sane you are.
“The large amount of talent evident on stage was extremely impressive, and the enthusiasm carried from sketch to sketch is what made this production so enjoyable. Directors Tom Waddell and Jess Zlotnick have set a high standard for the revue season and they also reminded me of what revues are really all about: exploring comedy with a group of talented people. Oh, and also that jokes about Harry Potter are just never going to get old”
The Sydney University Commerce Revue Presents: In the Red
In 1929 the world was faced with the worst financial crisis ever seen. In 2017 history is determined to repeat itself. We made some bad investments, our business acumen wasn’t as sharp as we thought it was, dad’s gone, and now it’s all come crashing down around us.
We’re Commerce Revue, and we’re In The Red.
‘In The Red’ is a night of completely original sketch comedy, song and dance, in which we prove how little we know about money, investment and all the stock market crashes of history (because we’re pretty sure there’s been at least 2). Come along to shake off that ever-present sense of dread: if you’re bad with money, if you drown your insecurities in comedy, if your dad abandoned you, then this is the show for you!
We aren’t savvy businesspeople, we aren’t professional comedians, and we can’t change the fact that you’ll probably never have a full-time job and financial stability, but we promise to help you laugh away your financial troubles and crippling debt for one night before you return to the crushing reality of eating smashed avocado in a housing market that has failed us all.
A show that delighted, disturbed and aroused me, sometimes all at once.
